Goodell Devries attorneys Jeffrey J. Hines, George S. Mahaffey Jr., and Sean Gugerty, secured a defense verdict in a case in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia. The case involved premises liability and complex commercial plumbing issues and was tried over three days before the Honorable Michael Rankin. The Defendants in the case, a Washington, D.C., apartment complex and a large Mid-Atlantic commercial property manager, were alleged to have breached numerous standards of care related to the care and oversight of the building’s main plumbing lines. With the aid of medical and commercial plumbing experts, the trial team demonstrated many reasons why the plaintiff’s medical injuries including a scheduled knee replacement were not causally related to the Defendants’ actions.
