George Mahaffey - Blog-headshotOn August 6, 2024, Goodell DeVries attorney George S. Mahaffey Jr. obtained a defense verdict in a construction litigation lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland on behalf of a national company that provides services for critical industrial equipment. The case centered around the failure of a commercial turbine at a local college. The plaintiff, a large HVAC company, claimed that the turbine failed because of negligence, but George successfully demonstrated that the HVAC company’s own negligence, in deciding to run the turbine out of alignment, was a contributing factor which precluded it from recovering at trial.
