On November 16, 2017, a jury in Baltimore City returned a defense verdict in favor of a podiatrist and Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Inc. Thomas V. Monahan, Jr. represented both defendants. The plaintiff alleged that the podiatrist prematurely removed external fixation hardware after surgery on her foot, thereby preventing the bones in her foot from fusing as planned.  She alleged that additional surgery was required in order to alleviate her daily pain, but she was too fearful to undergo any additional operation. After a four-day trial, the jury held that the podiatrist and Sinai Hospital had met the standard of reasonable care.
