Michael C. Heyse has joined the Appellate practice at the law firm Goodell DeVries.
An experienced litigator, Mike served with the United States Department of Justice for 18 years. He was Senior Litigation Counsel and focused on federal immigration appeals. He handled all stages of petitions for review of administrative agency decisions before federal circuit courts across the country.
Mike has been extensively involved in teaching and mentoring. He is a former adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where he taught first-year law students written and oral advocacy skills, including memo and brief drafting skills, as well as oral argument delivery tactics. He also serves as Moot Court Outside Competition Team Coach at the University of Maryland, a role he has held since 2013. He has also served as a Moot Court Judge at George Washington University School of Law and UMBC.
Mike holds degrees from the University of Maryland School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2006) and the University of North Carolina (B.A., 2000).
