Associate Attorney – Commercial Litigation and Product Liability

Building a career as a product liability and commercial litigator requires a workplace that fits you and your goals and provides meaningful opportunities to grow and shine. If BigLaw was the best path, it would not continue to burn out most of its best associates instead of preparing them for careers as partners. Make the better choice with your career and your life.

You should work with talented and experienced product liability and commercial litigation attorneys who are collaborative and invested in your growth. Litigation is a career and vocation that requires real opportunities for growth, leadership, and immediate hands-on experience for young attorneys. Not mindless drudgery.

Goodell DeVries Leech & Dann, LLP, a mid-size litigation law firm recognized as a top employer in the Baltimore area, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Baltimore, Maryland office. Goodell DeVries attorneys are routinely recognized in Chambers USA and other industry publications for their extraordinary work in some of the nation’s most important commercial and product liability matters. The firm provides a competitive salary and benefits, and even free in-building parking.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in corporate law, products liability, or commercial litigation. All candidates must be licensed and in good standing to practice in Maryland state courts; additional licensure in the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, or surrounding states is preferred but not required. The individual must be self-motivated with strong interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills.

Associate Attorney – Medical Malpractice Defense

Many law-firm Litigation Associates do all the right things but miss out on the career experiences that they envision and deserve: appearing in court for trials and hearings, writing important motions, taking and defending depositions, interacting regularly with clients and experts. They also want clients whose core mission goes beyond being profitable but makes a real difference in people’s lives. But they don’t want to pursue those personal goals at the cost of not working with a diverse array of top-tier attorneys to teach and mentor them. And is it too much to ask that the partners, associates, and staff be really nice, decent, reasonable people who truly appreciate you? And is there healthcare and free parking by the Inner Harbor? Does such a job even exist? It does.

Goodell, DeVries, Leech & Dann in Baltimore has been defending the region’s hospitals and healthcare heroes for decades in many of their most important civil litigation matters. It is the only firm with a Tier 1 rating in Chambers USA for Maryland Medical Malpractice Defense. The work is challenging and important. It requires a passion for healthcare in all its parts: the medicine, the care providers, and the patients. It also requires a passion for the core components of private civil litigation: trial work, legal research and substantive brief-writing, discovery, depositions, expert witnesses. If this is exactly what you wanted your litigation career to be and you find yourself getting something less than that, don’t settle any longer. Join us.

Benefits include:
  • Free parking
  • On-site fitness center
  • Paid parental leave
  • Excellent health benefits
  • Competitive salaries with bonus opportunities
  • Collaborative culture

Maryland Bar membership required; D.C. and/or Virginia Bar membership preferred. If not already licensed to practice in D.C., candidate must be willing to become barred.
