On April 1, 2019, a jury returned a verdict in favor of two pediatric emergency medicine physicians represented by Goodell DeVries attorneys, Tom Monahan and Sean Gugerty. The case resulted from the death of a 12-year-old boy following a ruptured brain aneurysm. The lawsuit alleged that the physicians failed to properly diagnose complaints of headache, nausea and vomiting and that they should have ordered a CT scan of the boy’s brain. After two weeks of testimony in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, the jury found that neither physician represented by Goodell DeVries had violated the standard of reasonable care. The suit involved expert testimony in the areas of pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, pediatric neurology, pediatric neurosurgery and pediatric neuroradiology.
