Goodell DeVries has added two associates to its Medical Malpractice group. James Phelan Robinson and Justin E. Tepe represent health care providers and institutions in medical malpractice litigation. Both bring significant civil litigation experience to the firm.
James has represented individuals and corporate entities in all stages of complex civil litigation. Before entering private practice, he served as a Judicial Intern and as a Law Clerk to the Hon. Shirley M. Watts of the Court of Appeals of Maryland. He also served as a Law Clerk to the Hon. William C. Mulford, II of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County. James is a Liaison for the Young Lawyer Section 5th Circuit (Anne Arundel County) of the Maryland State Bar Association. He also serves as Member-at-Large on the Bar Association of Baltimore City’s Young Lawyers Division. James is a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2013) and George Washington University (B.A., magna cum laude, 2009).
Justin has first-chaired dozens of trials to judgment. He is experienced in all aspects of complex litigation and provides legal analysis and potential exposure evaluations for defense clients. Justin also represents licensed entities in the medical cannabis industry in regulatory actions and as outside counsel on matters ranging from employment law to commercial disputes. He previously served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Shannon E. Avery of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Justin is a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2015), where he was Editor-in-Chief of the school's Journal of International Law, Volume III, and St. Mary's College of Maryland (B.A., 2009).
