Medical Malpractice

With its formidable reputation, our firm has attracted one of the largest groups of medical malpractice attorneys in the District of Columbia and Maryland.  Many of our attorneys are practicing in Maryland and in the District of Columbia and some of our attorneys have more than 50% of their cases in the District of Columbia. Our attorneys represent academic medical centers, regional hospitals, long-term care facilities, group practices and individual professionals such as physicians, psychotherapists, nurses and other health care providers in every specialty of practice.  We successfully try high-stakes medical negligence cases before judges and juries in both state and federal courts.  We also have an extensive track record of success with case-dispositive motions and in appellate practice.  Representative cases have involved birth trauma, psychiatric injury and suicide, limb amputations, retained instruments, missed and delayed cancer diagnoses, neurological disorders, cardiac death, ophthalmological injury, pregnancy disorders, coagulopathy, surgical errors and infectious diseases.

Our Medical Malpractice attorneys have been honored through inclusion in Best Lawyers in America, and have been recognized as Maryland Super Lawyers and Rising Stars. Our Medical Malpractice group as a whole has been recognized in Chambers, USA as “top tier,” having received Chambers USA’s highest ranking, with sources noting that “The firm possesses all the qualities we look for in a first-class defense firm -- the ability to try cases, expertise in medical legal matters, responsiveness and value.”  Several members of our group are Fellows in the American College of Trial Lawyers, and are members in the American Board of Trial Advocates.   Attorneys in our group have received awards for their leadership at both a local and state level, and have been selected for leadership positions on local and state-wide professional committees.  For instance, members of our group have served as chairpersons of the Maryland State Bar Association Committee on Civil Pattern Jury Instructions and the MSBA's Committee on law Reform.

In addition to their local practices in Maryland and the District of Columbia, attorneys in our group serve as supervisory counsel in complex and high-exposure medical malpractice cases across the country, and are regularly invited lecturers for doctors, hospital leadership, insurers and for other attorneys.  Several of our medical malpractice attorneys and paralegals possess degrees in health-related fields such as nursing, pharmacology, public health and biomedical engineering.
