Mr. Waxter is a partner with the firm. He has a broad practice, concentrating primarily on products liability defense. Mr. Waxter represents a manufacturer of pacemakers, defibrillators and related devices. He has supervised cases all over the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Australia. Mr. Waxter was a member of the national trial counsel defense team representing Telectronics Pacing Systems, Inc. in its defense against class action claims asserted against a model pacemaker lead manufactured by the company. As part of the trial team, Mr. Waxter was personally responsible for the development of FDA regulatory experts and witnesses, the depositions of plaintiffs and fact witnesses, and was involved in all phases of pre-trial discovery. He also participated in a week-long summary jury trial before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
Mr. Waxter also has a general liability practice, representing both the insureds of general liability carriers as well as plaintiffs. He has participated in two wrongful death cases as counsel for the plaintiffs. Mr. Waxter has tried cases in both state and federal courts in such areas as breach of contract, false imprisonment and false arrest, and cases involving several aerial lift platform devices.
Additionally, a large part of Mr. Waxter's practice involves asbestos defense. Mr. Waxter represents several clients. Mr. Waxter serves as National Coordinating Counsel for one Maritime client facing litigation in several states. For the second client, Mr. Waxter represents a former supplier of dental asbestos products in lawsuits brought throughout the United States.
After graduation from law school, Mr. Waxter served a year as law clerk to The Honorable John C. Eldridge on the Court of Appeals of Maryland.
Mr. Waxter is active in community service, having served a two-year term as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Maryland. Mr. Waxter also serves as a Commissioner for the Roland Park Baseball League. Mr. Waxter's mentoring activities were recognized by The Daily Record when they made him one of their 2009 Leaders in Law.
