Mr. Dann is a partner with the firm. Prior to his joining the firm in 1992, Mr. Dann was the senior attorney in charge of Semmes Bowen & Semmes’ Towson office. Mr. Dann’s practice centers on products liability, environmental, premises liability, insurance coverage and general tort litigation issues. Among Mr. Dann’s clients are:
ROBERTSHAW CONTROLS COMPANY (1980 -- present)
Mr. Dann represents Robertshaw as national counsel in cases arising from tap water scalds, in which liability is based on alleged violations of strict liability and the failure to undertake post-sale warnings concerning water heater controls. Mr. Dann's responsibilities include the development of all aspects of the defense strategy including discovery, management of experts and local counsel and lead trial counsel.
CHEVRON USA PRODUCTS COMPANY (1991 -- present)
Mr. Dann represents Chevron in suits filed in Maryland arising out of leaking underground storage tanks.
BIC CORPORATION (1992 -- present)
BIC has retained Mr. Dann as part of its team of national trial counsel for litigation involving claims for injuries sustained as a consequence of fires allegedly resulting from the use of disposable lighters. His responsibilities include all aspects of discovery and trial of the cases.
ZURICH INSURANCE COMPANY (1988 -- present)
Mr. Dann is one of the national environmental coverage counsel for this large property and casualty insurer. His responsibilities include the review of claims for coverage for losses resulting from environmental damage and the handling of litigation against the company arising out of these claims.
MAPLE CHASE COMPANY (2000 -- present)
Mr. Dann has been retained by Maple Chase as national counsel to defend cases in which it is claimed that personal injury or property damage was caused by the failure of a residential smoke detector to alarm in a timely manner in the presence of smoke from a fire. Mr. Dann's responsibilities include the development of all aspects of the defense strategy and he serves as lead trial counsel.
